Why do I need a coach?

Life doesn't come with a guidebook—especially when you're in transition. Maybe you're becoming a father, shifting careers, working with something unspoken, or coming out of a major experience with more questions than answers. You’re doing your best, but something feels unclear, unsettled, or like it’s all just a little too much. That’s where coaching comes in.

A coach isn’t here to fix you. You’re not broken. But what you might need is someone outside your day-to-day patterns—someone trained to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and walk beside you without judgment. Coaching offers space to slow down, get clear on what really matters, and take aligned steps forward. It’s a space where your truth gets to surface—without performance, pressure, or pretense.

We all have blind spots. We all hit moments where we can’t think our way out of where we are. A coach helps you come back to your body, your values, and your inner compass. Coaching supports you in turning insight into integration, and integration into transformation.

You could go it alone. But you don’t have to. Coaching doesn’t make life easier—but it does make it clearer, calmer, and more intentional. And that changes everything.

👤 Who Is Henry Murray?

Hi,👋 I’m Henry. I’m a professional life coach who works with men navigating the complex, often conflicting roles we carry in the world—father, partner, provider, leader, son, seeker.

My professional journey began in the U.S. Army, where I served for seven years as a Field Artillery Officer. After leaving the military, I earned an MBA from the University of Washington and spent nearly a decade climbing the corporate ladder in Fortune 500 companies. On paper, everything looked great. But at a certain point, I realized the “hustle” wasn’t mine to chase anymore. I stepped away—on good terms—and found success as a freelance data analytics consultant. For the first time, I had both income and freedom, something I didn’t think was possible before.

But beneath the titles and roles, I still felt something missing.

I’ve worn many hats in my life—some willingly, others without realizing it: husband, father, son, veteran, friend, employee, leader. Each role brought blessings, but also pressure and expectations that often clashed or left me feeling stretched thin. I didn’t really know who I was underneath all of it.

Despite having what looked like a “good life,” I felt trapped—contained by obligations, unclear about who I was outside of who I was for others. Thankfully, with the support of my wife and a few close friends, I started to turn inward. Slowly, through reflection, inner work, and deep honesty, I began to reconnect the dots of my life—from my past choices to my deepest values—and it all led back to my heart (Ugh i know 🤦).

It wasn’t easy. It took trial and error, breakthrough and heartbreak. But I emerged with a clearer sense of who I am, what matters to me, and where my energy belongs. I started showing up differently—more energized, less reactive, more aligned. And most importantly, I discovered how deeply I love supporting others through their own process of coming home to themselves.

Coaching grew naturally from there. I started working with friends, veterans, and coworkers who were stuck—burned out, off-track, or disconnected from their own purpose. While I still enjoy data architecture (and I’m still damn good at it 😉), what lights me up is helping people reconnect to who they really are and move toward the life they actually want.

I’ve trained in traditional coaching methodologies, and I’m certified in mindfulness, somatic inquiry, and self-acceptance-based approaches. But at the end of the day, what matters most isn’t the certificates—it’s this:

Am I a real human who knows what he’s doing, who’s been there, and who genuinely cares about your growth?
Yes. 100%.
